Welcome Back!

Hello Students (and parents and guardians!)

Thank you students for your patience in my updating the blog - I know, I know, it's been the same for awhile! I apologize - as you know, I had some things happening at home that have made it challenging for me to stay on top of everything.

So much has happened! We finished off first term with a wondeful field trip to Goldstream, where we roasted bannock over a fire and then hiked to the base of Mt. Finlayson - you all did an awesome job of keeping up! - making lots of great connections between First Nations traditional use of plants and our new Naturescape in the school grounds. Thanks to Gabe's Mom Meg for driving (NINE of you!!!), and thanks also to Mark and Jim, for building the fire and sharing all their knowledge.

Then it was the winter holiday - I've really enjoyed hearing about all your experiences, and it's nice to see you all back relaxed and refreshed. You're already working hard and haven't missed a beat in your learning.

I'd like to thank Mitchell, our school counsellour, for coming in to talk with us about how we treat each other...I thought the parts of the presentation "It's a Girl's World" was very interesting - and as Mitchell pointed out, really applies to boys too. Let's keep working on treating each other with respect...remember, no disrespect, dirty looks, rolled eyes, muttered comments, cliques, exclusion, no "I was just kidding",no meanness, on my watch!!!!

I think that's enough for now - yes I'll bring Bogey in soon (just not on a rainy day....but yay rain, the new plants are loving it!). I really like the new seating arrangement,and you seem to as well. Lots of things to look forward to this term...so Happy 2012 everyone!
