Homework!

Yes - there's homework!

For tomorrow (Tuesday January 10), please make sure you have completed your illustration of the most vivid scene of The Breadwinner (the one that stays in your mind the most when you think of The Breadwinner). Remember, it can be of a main event, such as the scene in the stadium or the graveyard, or, it can be a minor or very small event. Your illustration does not have to be an exact replica of the scene - we'd all have to be great artists to do that! - but rather an illustration that reflects the scene - it can be symbols, or just one part of the scene. Just do your best work.

Most of you got an excellent start on your illustration this morning, many of you finished. The next step, if you haven't already begun, is to write the rough draft of a paragraph describing the scene you've illustrated and why you think it stays in your mind so vividly. Your topic sentence should state what the scene is of, and your supporting detail should provide more information about the scene, and why it affects you. Think about making connections, visualizing, determining what's important and prior knowledge.

Remember the structure of a paragraph - topic sentence, 3 - 5 supporting details, and a concluding sentence.

Always put a good effort into your day to day work!!
