November!!

Hi everyone...well, Hallowe'en is over, and I'm impressed! Students, you've kept your candy consumption reasonable - I can tell, because none of you are bouncing off the walls and we've accomplished some good work this week!

Great costumes on Monday by the way - and thank you for watching The Wizard of Oz with me - scariest movie ever!!! And Toto - well, I'm pretty sure Bogey would rescue me too if I was captured by a wicked witch...

Reminder to students: tomorrow (Thursday) we'll continue to review the 3 key ideas we've been working on in science lately:
1) characteristics of living things
2) needs of living things
3) the diversity of life on earth

Remember that it's not about memorization - it's about thinking, wondering, and making connections.

Also make sure your science duotang is organized and complete - I'll be looking at it while you write your quiz on Friday. Don't lose sleep over the quiz (Friday 4th block) - it's just another way for you to communicate your thinking to me.

Parents, a newsletter will have gone home or been sent to your email yesterday. AS well, today you should have received 2 identification cards of your child - they are meant for you to carry in your wallet, and/or keep in a safe place at home - they are not meant for your child - they received their i.d. card a few weeks ago. And finally, a brochure for a PAC fund raiser was also sent home today for you to look at, if you are interested.

On Thursday, another letter will be coming home, addressing ways for you to receive information on how your child is doing academically at this point in the year. Please sign and detach the bottom of the letter and return with your child on Friday or Monday.

BATTERY DRIVE: PARENTS AND STUDENTS, IF YOU HAVE ANY OLD BATTERIES, PLEASE DON'T THROW THEM OUT. SEND THEM TO SCHOOL...OUR ME TO WE TEAM IS COLLECTING OLD BATTERIES - THEY ARE FILLED WITH ZINC WHICH IS NEEDED IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES TO SAVE LIVES!!
