Coins for Compassion, APAC Varadero, and a few other things...

Hi Everyone,

I have to apologize for not updating the blog before now...it's been a bit hard to let go of Havana...but I'll keep his picture up for the time being. A heartfelt thank you to all of you for being so sensitive, understanding and caring, of both me and Havana. Who could imagine such a tiny thing would have such a transformative affect on me and as it turns out, many others.

On that note, a quick update - I have continued to be in close touch with APAC Varadero, the group that rescued Havana from the hotel for me, and cared for him through his illness. I have become more and more impressed with their work as I have learned about it, and am determined to help in whatever way I can. Many of you have taken this on with me, and the box in our classroom is beginning to fill up with blankets, towels, bowls, leashes, food...way to go! A special thank you to Megan, for leading the way.

As well, yay to the Grade 6's for raising so much money through the Coins for Compassion drive for Japan - the school raised $750 in less than a week - a shout out to all of you!

As these compassionate acts of kindness have been taking place, you continue to work with Jeremy, linking your passions to making a difference - I've been impressed with your work in brainstorming and problem solving for world peace, environmental care, and animal protection.

Welcome to Ms. Rennick who will be spending the remainder of this week and next week with us as she embarks on her journey to become an educator...a wonderful profession and I think I have the best job in the world!

That's all for now - lots coming up though, including Eco-Rowing, so stay tuned.
